Birds in Wetland Habitat, South Florida

In 2016 I spent several months in South Florida exploring the wetlands, Green Cay and Wakodahatchee in Boynton Beach. I’m particularly interested in the wading birds in habitat. My smartphone camera became my sketch book as I  pursued a series of paintings begun the previous year in the Bahamas, and which continued in South Florida.

My paintings are never recreations of the photographs, but the photos aid as I have shifted from an abstract focus in painting to figurative. Flora and fauna in the North American tropics.

The portfolio page of this website displays some of those paintings inspired by Green Cay and Wakodahatchee wetlands, plus paintings from the Lucayan mangrove series, and were exhibited at Artisans Gallery in Lake Worth, FL in 2016.
